Introducing Fletcher's Keep Senior Dog Foundation

A Last Resort for Senior Dogs In Need

We warmly invite you to explore our story and discover the reasons behind our existence and the path that has led us to where we stand today.

Bilko and Fletcher of Fletcher's Keep Senior Dog Foundation

Our Origins: A Tale of Love and Legacy

Location

Based in the BC southern interior, in the Okanagan Valley, Canada, the roots of Fletcher’s Keep can be traced back to affection for dogs and the invaluable lessons learned from two companions, Bilko and Fletcher.

Background

Over 12 years, these extraordinary canines became members of our founder’s family, offering unwavering devotion, priceless wisdom and boundless affection.

Bidding farewell to Bilko and Fletcher during their twilight years inspired our founder, originally from the UK, to transform grief into a mission.

Thus, Fletcher’s Keep Senior Dog Foundation emerged to give back to the canine community while honouring all senior dogs’ lives.

Fletcher embarked on a path when he was diagnosed with cancer. As he grew older, he needed care, attention and love.

Symbol of Hope

In honour of his resilience and all senior dogs in need, Fletcher’s name became a symbol of hope and inspiration for our foundation.

The term “keep” has meaning; it refers to the last refuge within a besieged castle. Similarly, Fletcher’s Keep will be a safe haven and refuge and a last resort for elderly dogs facing uncertain futures.

Making a Lasting Impact

Our ultimate aim is to provide old dogs nationwide with options that ensure their twilight years are filled with love, comfort and attentive care.

By helping to preserve the human-canine bond and offering financial and in-home care services and support to people facing financial and other challenges, no one has to face the heartbreak of abandoning or surrendering their wise and beloved companions due to unnecessary circumstances.

Once all avenues have been exhausted, the Keep will provide the forever home and reason old dogs in need can find happiness again

Our Vision, Mission And Core Values

Mission

To preserve the Human-K9 bond by providing support and creating a refuge of last resort where senior dogs in need are valued and loved and never left to suffer or die alone.

Vision

Our long-term vision is to provide elderly dogs with a refuge of last resort, ensuring they receive the specialized care and love they deserve during their golden years.

Our short-term vision is to preserve the human-K9 bond by providing financial assistance to support families and individuals struggling to get much-needed care for their beloved pets and help cover healthcare costs.

We will also work to provide innovative at-home daycare services, ensuring people in our communities with senior dogs receive the help they need and remain surrounded by love in the comfort of their own homes.

With an unwavering commitment to preserving the human-k9 bond, we strive to prevent pet surrenders and offer these lifelines to those who value the companionship of their loyal senior dogs.

Core Values

  1. Compassion: We approach every interaction with empathy and understanding, striving to provide the highest standard of care for senior dogs in need.
  2. Dedication and Commitment:  We are committed to the well-being of senior dogs, working tirelessly with dedication and passion, providing a lifelong refuge and advocating for their needs.
  3. Collaboration: We believe in the power of partnerships and teamwork, collaborating with other organizations and communities to amplify our impact and reach.
  4. Integrity: We uphold the highest ethical standards, ensuring transparency, honesty, and accountability in all our endeavours.
  5. Innovation: We embrace creativity and innovation to develop new and effective ways to support senior dogs, constantly seeking better solutions and care practices.
  6. Sustainability: We are dedicated to environmentally friendly practices, ensuring that our operations are sustainable and positively impact the planet.
  7. Legacy: We honour the legacies of the dogs who have touched our lives, seeking to create a lasting impact for future generations of senior dogs and their human companions.
  8. Family: We consider all senior dogs and their human families part of our extended family, providing the love and support they deserve in their twilight years.
  9. Community: We foster a compassionate community dedicated to senior dogs’ well-being, building a support network beyond our Foundation’s boundaries.

These core values encapsulate the principles upon which Fletcher’s Keep Senior Dog Foundation operates.

They guide us in fulfilling our vision and mission, ensuring that we provide a loving and nurturing environment for senior dogs, prevent unnecessary surrender, and help preserve the human-canine bond.

Our Path Ahead

Committed to senior dogs and their owners, the Board of Directors established Fletcher’s Keep Senior Dog Foundation and officially registered as a BC and extra-provincial not-for-profit organization.

This pivotal moment marked the beginning of our journey to offer in-home support, assistance and financial aid to pet owners in need.

Simultaneously, we are raising funds to construct the Keep itself to ensure senior dogs with nowhere to go can gracefully age with dignity and respect.

Fletcher’s Keep Senior Dog Foundation represents more than an organization; it is a testament to Bilko and Fletcher’s enduring love and legacy and all the senior dogs who have touched our lives.

We warmly invite you, wherever you are in the World, to join us in our mission – making a difference and becoming part of a community that aims to redefine senior dog care.

We can work together to offer help and a haven for dogs who need support, ensuring they are cherished and loved during their final years without ever experiencing loneliness, pain or neglect.
